Do garbage disposals come with an Allen hex wrench?

If your garbage disposal is jammed, you'll need an Allen hex wrench to fit the socket on the bottom of the housing. Most disposals come with a little wrench just for this purpose.

Unclogging a Garbage Disposal

To unclog a garbage disposal, follow these steps:

1. Turn off the power to the disposal at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
2. Insert the Allen wrench into the socket on the bottom of the disposal housing.
3. Rotate the impeller back and forth to free the debris.
4. Once the impeller is free, turn on the power to the disposal and run some water through it to flush out any remaining debris.
